I remember exactly when I first saw Tiro – at the Convey group exhibition during Salone del Mobile 2025. Designed by FROM LIGHTING in collaboration with the Icelandic-Swiss studio Brynjar & Veronika, the lamp instantly took me back to my grandmother’s kitchen table. Hanging above it was a fabric-shaded pendant with the same pull-cord mechanism. As a child, I was fascinated that you could push the cord upward – and it would stay there. As if gravity had been tricked. That nearly magical quality stuck with me. Maybe that’s why Tiro has become the bedside lamp I never knew I needed. 

It comes in four color combinations: terracotta with an orange glass rod, yellow with a matching one, azure blue with a green rod, and silver with a transparent version. The surfaces are either powder-coated (terracotta, yellow) or anodized (silver, azure blue). What stands out is its analog operation: in a world where lights are controlled by apps or voice assistants, it’s refreshing to physically adjust something – and instantly see the result. That kind of tactile interaction builds a genuine connection. 

After falling for Tiro, I took a closer look at FROM LIGHTING’s other pieces. The PIAZZA series especially shows what this label is capable of. Each lamp consists of a wall-mounted metal panel and a magnetic lighting element that can be moved freely – horizontally and vertically. The PIAZZA LINEAR version, with its elongated form, brings structure into a space. PIAZZA ROUND, on the other hand, feels almost sculptural – like a glowing sun or moon on the wall. It reinterprets the relationship between light and form in a poetic but functional way. 

And then there’s SATELLIT – an elegant pendant lamp made of a single glass tube suspended on two thin steel wires that also serve as the power supply. The tube can be rotated freely to adjust the direction and mood of the light. Angle it downward for focused illumination over a desk or table, or tilt it upward for a softer ambient glow. 

Each of these designs proves that FROM LIGHTING understands light as both an object and an atmosphere. Their lamps are simple, but never plain. They create ambiance without taking center stage – and, perhaps most importantly, they make light something tactile, interactive, and personal. In a world that often feels distant and fast-paced, that might just be their most beautiful feature of all.
