Whether for city buses, trucks, tractors, or boats, the Turkish manufacturer Polkima has been producing essential composite-based components for a variety of industries for over 30 years. They supply composite parts for car bodies, interior modules, or hull claddings in the mobility and transportation sectors. Polkima’s distinctive expertise can also occasionally be found in fitness centers, where they have created custom designs for sports equipment.
With extensive knowledge in this field, the company expanded its business and launched the design label Uma in 2022. Following a collaborative approach, Uma invites international designers to participate in joint projects. The goal is to create high-quality, durable furniture by combining the expertise of both designers and the manufacturer.
The T4 collection is the result of a collaboration with the London-based architecture studio Holloway Li. Alex Holloway and Na Li designed seating furniture that, with its wide seat surfaces, low seating height, and seamless integration of armrests and backrests, encourages users to linger for at least 30 minutes. Alongside its strong visual elements, the T4 collection stands out for its adaptability. The lounge chair is available as a single seat or in configurations of two to four seats as a sofa. The corner sofa offers countless possibilities for customization, making it suitable for hotel lobbies, showrooms, or office spaces.
The furniture collection is available in five color options: Cream Soda, Mellon Yellow, Overground Orange, Blush Pink, and Liquorice Black. With its bold colors, high-gloss surfaces, and organic forms, the T4 collection exists somewhere between retro-futurism and space age. Moreover, it shares with its namesake, the Volkswagen T4 in its California edition, the values of individuality and adaptability – with the potential to achieve cult status in its own right.
